About us

SRF International is a collaboration between independent research centres, in India, China, South Africa and UK: all focused on reducing the environmental impact of road freight transport. These four centres have a common mission and structure. Each has a world-leading team of researchers in engineering and logistics, working with industry and government partners. The four centres collaborate in their research: exchanging students and scholars; sharing tools and methods; data and ideas; problems and solutions: with joint webinars, workshops and publications.

SRF UK

Established in 2013, The Centre For Sustainable Road Freight brings together multi-disciplinary teams of researchers and industry leaders to improve road freight efficiency and reduce its environmental impact. Our purpose is to research engineering and organizational solutions to make road freight economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.

SFVGL China

Smart Freight Vehicle and Green Logistics (SFVGL) was founded in 2017, with the aim of combining low-carbon vehicle technology and sustainable transportation research to achieve energy saving and emission reduction of both automobiles and road transportation.

SRF South Africa

The SRF-SA is collaboration between Wits University, Stellenbosch University, the CSIR, University of the Western Cape, and the Tshwane University of Technology. It performs fundamental and applied research into low carbon road freight including related issues such as road accident deaths, road wear and driver wellness and safety; including both vehicle engineering and logistical factors.

SRF India

The SRF India group is a collaboration between The Centre for Transportation and Logistics (CTL) at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) and and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM). Researchers from these two institutions have been investigating research topics that align with the overall vision of the global SRF group.
